Dillisk / Dulse – Original Framed Seaweed Artwork

This original artwork features Dillisk (Dulse), responsibly foraged by Nicola Weldon along the Irish coast. Each specimen is carefully gathered from strands and rock pools, then dry pressed to preserve its delicate structure, colour, and natural form.

The pressed seaweed is beautifully presented in a natural wood frame, allowing the organic detail and rhythm of the plant to be appreciated as both a botanical record and an artwork. Created with care and respect for the coastal environment, this piece offers a direct connection to Ireland’s coastal landscapes.

My creative process involves incorporating elements of nature and all of my original artworks are made by hand. No two are ever the same, meaning sizes and descriptions are approximate. My artworks sometimes have uneven qualities and features, which I believe add to the overall character and uniqueness of my work. It is advised not to place the original ceramic artwork in direct sunlight or directly above a heat source to ensure longevity.
